MANILA – The Philippine Navy Officers’ Wives and Husbands Association (PNOWHA) has collected 34,200 cubic centimeters (cc) of blood from its bloodletting drive held on Tuesday.
In a message to the Philippine News Agency (PNA) Wednesday, Navy public affairs office chief, Lt. Commander Maria Christina Roxas said this is equivalent to a total of 76 bags, each containing 400 cc.
The bloodletting activity was held at the Jurado Hall, Bonifacio Naval Station, Taguig City.
“(The project) aim(s) to help replenish blood supplies across blood banks and hospitals in Metro Manila. The partner agency and recipient for this activity is the Rizal Medical Center in Pasig City,” Roxas said.
She added the activity is headed by the Rachel Cruz-Bacordo, the wife of PN flag-officer-in-command Vice Admiral Giovanni Carlo Bacordo, and PNOWHA adviser.
Roxas said the event is part of the series of blood donation drives organized by the PN and partner stakeholders as part of its response to help ensure adequate blood supply in the country after the government banned the conduct of mass blood donation activities.
