110 firms get safety seal: DOLE

The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) has so far awarded over 100 safety seal certifications to different companies nationwide.

Data from the DOLE – Bureau of Working Conditions (BWC) released on Wednesday showed that some 110 firms from different sectors have received such certifications.

Of the number, 14 businesses are in the National Capital Region (NCR).

The latest enterprises that have been acknowledged for their safety compliance are the eight food firms under San Miguel Corporation (SMC) group.

DOLE Secretary Silvestre Bello III led the safety seal awarding ceremony in Pasig City on Tuesday to SMC subsidiaries which are San Miguel Foods, Inc.; Purefoods-Hormel Company Inc., Magnolia, Inc.; San Miguel Mills (head office and branch); Golden Bay Grain Terminal Corp.; San Miguel Food and Beverage, and San Miguel Super Coffeemix Co. Inc.

The department issues the Safety Seal for the manufacturing, construction sites, utilities (electric, water, gas, air conditioning supply, sewerage, waste management) information and communication companies (private publication, news, movie production, TV, and radio companies), and warehouses.

On the other hand, the company also reported that about 80 percent of its workforce are already vaccinated.

SMC is one of the country’s largest and most diversified conglomerates with businesses in the food and beverage, packaging, fuel and oil, power, and infrastructure industries. (PNA)
